Changing the owner of a Power Automate flow depends on the type of flow you're working with
Personal Flow (My Flows)
If the flow is under "My flows", it belongs to you and cannot be directly reassigned. However, you can share or move it:
Option A: Share as Co-owner
1.
Open the flow in Power Automate (make.powerautomate.com) 2.
Go to My flows 3. Click the ellipsis (⋯) next to the flow → Share
4. Add the person you want as Co-owner.
Now they can edit/run the flow. But you’re still the owner.
Option B: Export + Import Flow
If you want someone else to fully take ownership:
1. Click the ellipsis (⋯) → Export → select Package (.zip).
2.
Send the ZIP file to the new owner 3. They log into Power Automate → Import the flow.
4. Assign connections during import.
Now it’s their flow.
Team Flow / Solution Flow (Recommended for Ownership Transfers)
If your flow is part of a Solution:
· Anyone with access to the solution can modify and own the flow. · You can manage permissions through Dataverse roles. · These flows are tied to the environment, not individual users. Ideal for organizational continuity and true shared ownership.
Pro Tip: Best Practice for Businesses
Use Solution-based flows and service accounts (or shared mailboxes) to avoid ownership problems when employees leave the organization.
