Set Major Versioning in SharePoint using PowerShell

The example in this topic show how to use PowerShell to Set Major Versioning in SharePoint

  • # Provide credentials over here
  • $creds = (New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential "<<UserName>>",(ConvertTo-SecureString "<<Password>>" -AsPlainText -Force))
  •  
  • # Provide URL of the Site over here
  • # If you do not wish to pass credentials hard coded then you can use: -Credentials (Get-Credential). This will prompt to enter credentials
  • Connect-PnPOnline -Url http://MyServer/sites/MySiteCollection -Credentials $creds
  •  
  • # By default, versioning is not enabled
  • # This will enable versioning in SharePoint List
  • # This will enable major versioning in document library
  • # This will set major version limit in Document library to 25
  • Set-PnPList -Identity "Documents" -EnableVersioning 1 -MajorVersions 25
  •  
  • Disconnect-PnPOnline
